Camping Cupboard



Thelma and Louise know to include a camping cupboard when they go on extended trips out of town. These portable and lightweight kitchen conveniences away from home fold up so that they take up a minimum of space. This means more room in the car when driving, and it is easier on the feet when hiking to a remote spot on the lake or in the woods. With zippered covers that seal the contents, the protection they afford from unwelcome guests like night critters and other wild animals can not be ignored.



The cupboard they use is a conventional size, although they know that larger ones are being sold. Those are tall enough to hang clothing. They were foldable, like theirs, and lightweight, too. Theirs measurs about two feet by two feet, and includes three shelves. Today, when the women got to where they parked their car, they packed their camping gear about a mile to the camp site and begin setting up. The cupboard would go inside the tent of course, and it would hold not only their canned and dry grocery items, but little important things like flashlights, extra batteries, and girly things, as well. Not only would keep any vermin out, should they get into the tent, but bugs would also be kept at bay.

It had not rained for almost a week on this Spring day, so the ground was dry where they chose to spread out the ground cover and set up the tent. Once it was pitched, the girls thought they'd try a little angling in the river and see what they could catch. They cast fishing pools into the deeper water. After an hour they had a couple of nice size fish for dinner. They headed back to camp and pulled the frying pan and eating utensils out of their portable storage. They were using the storage mostly as a pantry, and had allocated most of the the lowest shelf to canned food. It made the perfect kitchen away from home.

Over a smoky burning fire, it took no time at all to have the fish fried up in hot oil. A bottle of white wine made both women feel like they were gourmet cooks, even though they were just gonna drink the wine. It would be getting dark pretty soon, so they cleaned up the dinner dishes and put everything back away in the portable pantry, then moved it into the tent for the night. When the stars came out, they turned on a portable radio and listened to classic tunes on a jazz station. The night was going perfect.
